Recipe: Oven Dogs

Standard

Ingredients:

8 hot dog buns

Mayonnaise

8 hot dogs

1/2 cup sweet relish

1 tbsp butter

1/2 medium onion

1 (15 oz.) can chili

1 cup shredded cheese

Directions:

Spread a coating of mayonnaise on the inside of the hot dog buns. Fill the buns with the hot dogs and place in a 9″ x 13″ baking dish. Top each dog with a tbsp of relish. In a pan, saute the butter and onion until tender. Add the chili to the onions and stir until well-combined. Top the dogs with the chili and sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

Note: Relish is optional–we didn’t use it and the dish was just as good. Also, next time we want to try laying the buns flat in the pan and putting a layer of hot dog cut into rings on top–as opposed to the full hot dogs that the recipe calls for.

About cdhoose

I'm a mom to an amazing little girl and have another little one on the way. I live in Upstate New York with my fiance and daughter, 2 big, crazy dogs and a 3-legged cat (who has an attitude). I hate know-it-alls, Lindsay Lohan and socks with holes in them. I always seem to get myself into trouble (which entertains my fiance to no end), but I try hard to be a good parent. Also, I occasionally work on scrapbooking the fifty billion pictures I've taken of my kid. And I like ice cream. The end.
